Looking for a fun date idea or maybe just a girls’ night out? I suggest doing an appetizer crawl. Appetizer crawls are fun because you get to try a lot of different foods from different places. I always pick a community that has restaurants within walking distance so we do not have to constantly move the car as we go from location to location. Downtown Geneva is the perfect destination for walkability between restaurants. Now let’s get crawling.
Start the Geneva appetizer crawl with wine at Galena Cellars Tasting Room (477 S. Third St) on Third Street. The atmosphere is fun and everyone will be ready to start the crawl when they finish a wine tasting. Then continue on…
The Burger Local – Oyster Fry
The menu description is cracker fried oysters, beer battered onion rings, andouille sausage, homemade remoulade. There are so many different flavors in this dish but they go together great. This dish is big enough to share between 2-3 people.

Hache Moderne Brasserie– Cheese and Charcuterie Board
The Chef has a selection of Artisan Cheeses, dried meats and candied nuts that the waitress can help you pair perfectly with one of their wines. This is a necessary stop on your appetizer crawl because what night out is complete without some wine and cheese? This is perfect for 2-3 people to share.

My Review of Hache
Nobel House – Fresh Oysters
This appetizer has turned into one of my go to dishes before we go out for dinner in the Fox Valley. The oysters are brought in fresh daily from both coasts. I highly recommend pairing the oysters with a beer flight.

Sergio’s Cantina – Pineapple Bacon Guacamole
The staff make this sweet and salty combination fresh when ordered. Pair it with a Fresh Agave Margarita and you will know why this is the perfect location to end your appetizer crawl.
This appetizer crawl will give you a sneak peak of the quickly expanding food scene of Geneva but you will notice there are a lot more restaurants to do a second crawl. What restaurants do you think I should add when I come crawling back on my next visit to Geneva?
