Fall Menu at Sullivan’s Steakhouse

Post from Traveling Murphy

When most people think of fall food they picture apple cider donuts and pumpkin spiced – well, pumpkin spiced everything. However they are forgetting that it is also King Crab Season. Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Naperville puts it as the centerpiece of their seasonal menu. Recently we had a date night and tried some of the fall menu and a couple of delicious selections that you can find on the menu all year round. Here are my recommendations for a perfect fall date night in downtown Naperville.Double Take Sullivans

Appetizers set the mood for the whole night so we started with Stone Crab Claws and Blue Point Oysters on the Half Shell. Both pair perfect with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or Unoaked Chardonnay. Our waitress was very passionate about wine pairings so I let her choose what wine to pair with each of our courses. For the appetizer she started me with the Sauvignon Blanc. She was spot on!

For dinner we enjoyed The Double Take, Sullivan’s signature filet paired with a 1/2 pound of wild caught king crab legs for just $44. Seafood is my new passion so I am always a little nervous when a waitress brings out a meal that requires cracking the shell. Most red meat entree sullivansmeals require a rich red wine to help balance out the entrée but the waitress recommended we play up the 1/2 pound of wild caught king crab legs with a glass of Chardonnay. The wine pairing brought out the butter flavoring in the crab legs and béarnaise.

A great drink for in between the main entrée and dessert is the Apple Cinnamon Mule. My husband makes great Moscow Mules so when I saw this drink on the seasonal menu I had to try it! Instead of using vodka they Jim Bean Apple and Jim Bean Fire. This delicious drink screams fall.

A perfect way to conclude the meal is with the Peanut Butter Black Bottom Pie paired with Taylor 20 Year Tawny Port. The port will help cut a little bit of the sweetness and enrich the peanut butter taste. Perfect end to a rich meal.
