My Brunch Spots – Part 1

I feel like the Sunday morning brunch crowd is divided into three different categories.
1) Picks the destination based on the menu and nothing else.
2) Looks for a spot with good food but it ultimately depends on whether the mimosas               are unlimited or not.
3) How cool is my Bloody Mary going to look in a photo?

Here are some of my favorite spots for brunch and why. Let me know if I am missing a spot or need to try something next weekend. I am not opposed to trying new spots, as long as they are not in Chicago.

Brick House Tavern + Tap
This is a new spot we just found because it is little out of range for our normal travels on a brick house dgSunday morning. I am so glad we decided to make the trip because the food was delicious and the drinks were affordable and Instagram worthy. The food will appeal to those looking for some Good ol’ Southern Cooking with a twist, my menu item of choice was the Southern Fried Chicken Benedict (spicy buttermilk marinated fried chicken, poached eggs, toasted brioche & sriracha bacon hollandaise). When my meal was brought out everyone grabbed their fork to try it. It was delicious! Would you believe me if I told you that was not even the best part? $2 Mimosas were flowing the whole meal and the $8.50 Bloody Marys were holding their own with the garnishes you come to expect on a Bloody Mary with the addition of a deviled egg. I tried everyone’s food and everything is worth trying!

Eddie Gaedel Pub & Grill
The best part of brunch at Eddie Gaedel has to be the custom Bloody Mary list. The bloodyoriginal Bloody Mary  comes with celery, olives and a Ream’s Sausage Stick. Upgrades include: Little Eddie Cheeseburger, Jalapeno Bacon Popper, Cheese Curds and Asparagus. Additions range from $1-$2.50 each.

They have limited seating but it adds to the atmosphere so I recommend coming early so you can get a seat and no large groups.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery
I feel like Cooper’s Hawk is the exception to the typical brunch spot. They have a delicious Bloody Mary and Mimosa but it is so hard to choose one of those when you can have a wine flight ranging from $12.99-$15.99. I like to pick the Sparkling Flight for brunch or make my own.
